General Job Description:

 

Under the general supervision of the site principal, the Instructional Resource Specialist (IRS) focuses on student

achievement in Language Arts and Math as indicated by the district and site Educational Plans for Student Success.

The Instructional Resource Specialist will also assist in the development of best practices following the Bloomfield

Learning Model and researching/implementing quality programs as needed. The Instructional Resource Specialist

works hand in hand with other educators to identify students of concern and to give them the extra attention and

coaching needed to get the students on an equal footing with their peers; assists teachers in improving instruction by

supporting instructional change to increase reading and math achievement. Instructional change is made through the

professional development process of training then assisting and supporting teachers with classroom instructional

modifications and feedback.

Contract Hours: 7

 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Education.

2. Valid New Mexico teaching license with endorsements as needed.

3. Proven abilities in reading and/or math preferred

4. TESOL endorsement preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving light furniture

may be required.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

A. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

In addition to other duties assigned by the principal, the IRS shall:

  1. Demonstrate state teacher competencies and indicators specific to level of licensure;
  2. Model effective instructional strategies.
  3. Provide a classroom model for academic instruction with students;
  4. Observe/conference/coach teachers in implementing effective instructional practices;
  5. Provide staff development to teachers on areas relating to literacy and math;
  6. Organize interventions, including tutoring programs, to improve student achievement;
  7. Assist with the assessment process, data collection for program planning and all reports as required;
  8. Monitor and assist teachers in using student assessment data to guide instructional change;
  9. Facilitate communication with the leadership team, school staff and community regarding academicissues;
  10. Serve as a member of the SAT/RtI process;
  11. Serve on district level committees as required.

 

Work Environment

 

        Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hour work may be required. May make site or home visits when needed and appropriate.
